ABOUT THIS PIECE

According to John Lee there are 6 "Love Styles" which are represented by the six hearts throughout the piece.

  1. Eros – a passionate physical and emotional love based on aesthetic enjoyment
  2. Ludus – a love that is played as a game or sport; conquest
  3. Storge – an affectionate love that slowly develops from friendship, based on similarity
  4. Pragma – love that is driven by the head, not the heart; undemonstrative
  5. Mania – highly volatile love; obsession; fueled by low self-esteem
  6. Agape – selfless altruistic love; spiritual
This is a lot of peoples favorite piece. This was one that I just kept adding to without much planning. Beyond John Lee's love styles, the inkblot looked to me like a butterfly which could be representative of fragility and limited time. Others have commented that it looks similar to a silhouette of a pelvic bone at an unusual angle.

TECHNIQUE
I used India ink, a rainbow of acrylic colors, pen, and watercolor.

Size: 11" by 16"
